Our mission is to empower imperfect people to live according to God's perfect way.

What We Believe

We believe in the historic Christian faith: There is one God, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ, and the Holy Scriptures are the final authority — containing everything we need for salvation and instructions for how we live our daily lives. We are a convergence church, worshiping at the intersection of the Evangelical, Charismatic, and Liturgical/Sacramental. We are rooted in the ancient, unbroken faith of the Church, united by what Christians have always shared in common: Scripture, the Creeds, the Sacraments, and the order established and handed down by the Apostles. We welcome everyone to this table of fellowship, set by love and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Our Story

Disciples of the Way Fellowship takes its name from Christ's own words: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life." We didn't choose that name to make a claim about ourselves — we chose it because it names who we're trying to become. Our calling is not to admire that statement from a distance, but to walk it, together, over a lifetime.

Our identity is rooted in the way the Apostle Paul introduced himself, at the very opening of Romans: a bondservant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God. Three words, and inside them, a whole way of life. Bondservant is not the enslaving word it sounds like. It's the ancient language for a servant who, having been set free, chose to stay in the service of the master — not out of obligation or fear, but out of love. That's the choice we try to form in every person who walks through our door or meets us online: a love of God that develops into a life devoted to His will. We also believe every believer is called — not just the ones behind a pulpit, but every person, with a purpose only they can carry. And we believe we are set apart, distinct in how we live, because before anything else claims us, the gospel already has.

Our story is not new, but an ancient one — older than any building. Long before there were cathedrals, the earliest Christians gathered in homes to break bread, to pray, and to be formed together, and it was from those small, ordinary rooms that the Church spread to the ends of the earth. We stand in that same lineage. Right now, we are a home-based fellowship serving Greenwich, Connecticut and beyond, gathering online through Facebook to worship, study Scripture, and grow together — and we are actively building toward a permanent home of our own, trusting that God is doing the same work in us that He did in that first upper room.

And we believe that work won't stop with us. Our vision is to see ministry cells rise up across the country — small communities formed in this same spirit of servanthood, calling, and consecration, joined together as one fellowship, wherever God plants them.

Father Lopez loves God and people. He is a husband, father of three, and a high school business and computer science teacher. His passion lies in helping people learn and understand not only how to live a life devoted to God, but to also be confident in who God made them to be. One of Father Lopez's sayings is "You can only give one hundred percent of what you have on any given day, and that's always going to be good enough."

Father Lopez is a lifelong learner and often referred to as a professional student. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a minor in Human Resource Management from the University of Bridgeport in 2015. He went on to earn a Master's of Business Administration from UB in 2019, a Sixth-Year Certificate of Advanced Studies in Secondary Business Education in 2022, and is currently working toward a doctorate in Educational Leadership at UB. He graduated with honors, earning Summa Cum Laude status and a perfect 4.0 GPA. He intends on pursuing a Master's of Divinity degree in the near future.

Father Lopez is the founder of Disciples of The Way Fellowship and its Rector. He also serves as the General Secretary of the Diocese of the Holy Spirit. As Rector, he has established Disciples of The Way Institute to empower imperfect people to live according to God's perfect way.

Father Lopez was ordained as Priest on September 23, 2023 by The Right Reverend Ronnie L. Eggleston I. In 2022, he was commissioned to start a church plant in Connecticut and began holding weekly Bible studies, which eventually became Digway Church (Doing It God's Way Church). In early 2025, Father Lopez was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The mental stresses of his illness and pastoring led to him taking a hiatus from ministry, and Father Lopez made the difficult decision to close Digway Church.

On Easter Sunday of 2026, now a cancer survivor, Father Lopez heeded the Holy Spirit and launched Disciples of the Way Fellowship with a focus on doing what God gifted him to do — teach. He refers to himself as the "Treacher" — the teacher-preacher. Father Lopez dedicates his life to the service of God and being a conduit of the Father's love in the earth. He is passionate about connecting with people in their shared imperfections, understanding that it is at the meeting of God's grace where we find the compassion necessary to live according to God's perfect way.
